Ok, so I am introducing myself. My name is Aidan, I am South African. I am living in Netherlands for the second time now. I lived here from 2009 to 2010 for 18 months then went back to SA for 18 months until Dec 2011. I then left again and am back in Holland since Dec last year. I am looking into forums on why other people left SA and I'm wondering if it was for the same reasons as me. The first time was a holiday, the second time I left because the country had changed and I had changed while I was away. I am single, not that I think this will be used as a dating site, but it seems people like to know relationship statuses on this forum. I also have no children and ride a bicycle.

I have been doing a lot of research into South African's abroad and I came across this site on another forum and went to check it out. I see a lot of problems back home and they drive me crazy. The reason I'm looking up South Africans abroad is because I want to find out whether or not I'm crazy. I felt like a fool when I went back to SA. I had a great job here, great apartment, great friend network, but still I was homesick for so long. I packed up, went back home and regretted it. It took me 18 months to get out. 18 months of saving money while unexpected expenses kept coming along to set me back. I was young so people at work didnt take me seriously over there. I hated the corporate structure there which feels like its from the middle ages, I hated that my taxes didnt get put to use for basic service delivery. I hated that all I heard every day was how dare I be white in a black mans country by great leaders like Julius. I hated the fear of my fellow South Africans. I hated how complacent they were. I hated how nobody could see that things had changed drastically in the 18 months I was away. I hated the blatant corruption thrown in my face daily. I hated the aggression of Saffers who take out their frustrations of the government on one another all the time. But most of all... I hated the crime and violence. I hated that 2 of my friends were shot (survived) while I was back. I hated that one of my friends went missing, only to turn up 9 months later in a shallow grave next to a road. They hacked him to death for his bakkie and his shoes. This from 2 of the guys he was employing. He was a nice, quiet guy only 26 years old. I watched what it did to his girlfriend while he was missing. Hoping he's alive but trying to prepare for the worst. I read about this shit happening daily in South Africa and decided I'd had enough. I miss my family as we all do, but I know that if they ever decide to leave, then I'll be here to help them. I want to raise a family somewhere one day, with a hope for the future.

So that's a bit about me. I prefer living abroad, but I'll always love South Africa. It will always be my country and I love going on holiday there. That being said, I'm not joining this site to say I'm right and you're wrong about SA. If you love it, great. You live there, fine. I'm just here to find out if there are others who feel the same as me about watching their home slide down and feel frustrated by not being able to stop it.

Other than that, I'm a Taurus, 1.85m, 89kg love meeting new people and travelling. Any other details you would like to know in my introduction...
