Hallo Frank, Aris.

Found the site by chance, an obscure google. Living in the USA, Dallas TX. Oil and Gas man. Ex Saffa, left ten years ago.

Looking for a chat to ex Saffa's about all things SA. Keeping in touch with SA news as a mild interest. Love the USA. Wife is also a yank.

How big is the forum? I had a quick look, seems most forums are locked? Many members?

Not many members, but all are prolific and opinionated. A more intelligent bunch you will not find.

We do put restrictions on the forums as we don't appreciate lurkers. From the sounds of it - you will fit in - assuming you like a good debate and are prepared to speak your mind.

Some of our members are in the US, some in Europe, and some in Australia.

Just post a few more times and you should have access to the main forum.

Used to talk on BritishExpat, but it got too personal and heated. Insults everywhere.

Where is everybody from?

I'm based in Canada. Work downtown Toronto and live about an hour's drive from the city.
Welcome.

Hi Julian,

I spent a lot of time in Mississauga many years ago. I love Toronto. Beaches district my fave. Which part are you in?

Yeah Toronto is a very well run big city. Very livable downtown core.
Mississuaga is growing by the day and attracts lots of immigrants; a real melting pot. If you've been away for several years you might not recognize the place. Lots of growth.

But overall as you know the whole GTA is generally good place to raise a family. We are in Ancaster which is north/west of Burlington and north of Hamilton.

You might laugh. Been here 11 years and I have never been to Beaches (the neighbourhood)
Obviously been to many beaches though.

I found Canada quite nice, actually. I have a strong Dutch accent (no, I am not Afrikaans, born to a Dutch mother and an American father - Dutch speaking), but raised Afrikaans/Dutch in Afrikaans speaking South Africa. The Canadians could pick my accent, the USA struggled.

I learned the USA accent soon enough, though.

Is the Niagara falls wine region still popular?

You must live a sheltered life. There are some pretty f---ing stupid people on this planet.
